Juliana and I first met online here on December 2, 2005. We began talking with each other and very quickly developed a mutual interest. After we spent several weeks talking online and via telephone with each other every day, I decided that I really needed to see her and determine if the feelings I had for her were real. She was having the same thoughts at that time and we decided that I would fly to meet her in Brazil as soon as I could arrange it with my workplace. My plane left on Friday, February 3 and I stayed there with her until Sunday, February 12. During that time, I also met her parents, her two siblings and other members of her family. I knew that I loved her, so while I was there I asked her father for permission to marry her and proposed to her. He gave his permission after I spent some time with the family and he had the chance to know me better. It was very difficult to leave, but I did so knowing that I would see her again before too much time had passed. We set our wedding date for June 16, after finalizing all the documentation with the civil registry in her home town. On June 13, my father and I left for Brazil for my wedding, which was on June 16 at Nova Sião Baptist Church in Vitória da Conquista. My father met her and her family for the first time, and realized immediately why I had fallen in love with Juliana. Her family made us both feel at home, which was wonderful for us, as my mother had passed away earlier this year and we were both struggling with that loss. After the wedding, Juliana and I spent a week together in Porto Seguro for our honeymoon and I returned to the US on June 25. I immediately began gathering the documentation I needed to bring her and her son Lucas here. Thanks to your website for making our introduction possible!
