I’m an old fashioned nice guy who believes in opening doors all the time, flowers at least once a month and dinners out weekly (or more). Currently very busy with my new hurricane diet program (house 80% habitable, and I lost 15 lb from sweat/hard work), this feeds my home improvement habit and I am one of the lucky ones. OK, what am I looking for? In the short term friends and friendly mutual terms. What’s a friend? Someone who’s happy when good things happen to another, even when their own circumstances are less than uplifting. Someone capable feeling joy in the good fortune of another. Someone who is concerned, compassionate and empathetic for another when ....*%^& happpens. Someone to listen without feeling compelled to fix things. Someone who is a companion for the adventure of the day. Be it white water kayaking, exploring Ship Island, having dinner in the Quarter, watching River Dance at the Saenger or even helping out with my home projects from time to time. Someone who doesn’t mind teaching me how to dance because that’s what my friend really likes to do and, even though I dance like Carlton on "Fresh Prince...", I’m stilll fun (if not funny) to watch. In the long term? A relationship. What’s that? It’s monogomous, it’s real fidelity, it’s honesty, sincerity and (of course) love without condition. If I love someone that means never saying "If you loved me you would..." That’s all, pretty simple, no unachievable laundry list of traits. I’ve found that people are who they are and they are never perfect. One thing, if you are just looking for a romp in the hay then please look elsewhere. Been there and done that years ago and it was fun but it wasn’t "real" fun. I like to keep things simple. Life is complicated enough already. Relationships that start complicated simply end and those that start simply can evolve and even grow through complex circumstances.
